Overview of Modern Apprentice Community Coaches
On the Modern Apprentice Leisure Management programme, your responsibilities will be as follows:
  • deliver a programme for primary or secondary school aged children during curriculum and after school
  • create and manage school-to-club links
  • deliver high quality rugby coaching sessions to schools and clubs
  • organise club youth programmes, rugby festivals and events
  • assist and manage the administration of local rugby development
  • assist with and manage the monitoring of rugby activity in the local area
  • meet the deadlines set for portfolio completion to achieve the MA Award
  • act as a role model and ambassador for Scottish Rugby
  • achieve a variety of coaching and associated qualifications
  • comply with all health and safety and child protection procedures
  • attend all Scottish Rugby in-service training and local council development training as required.
Career Opportunities
The skills you learn throughout your programme will equip you for careers in rugby and sport development. Several previous graduates of this programme have become Development Officers and work in coaching and administrative roles within Scottish Rugby. Others have have progressed on to Sport Coaching and Development courses at College. Courses at University in the area of Sport Studies, Sports Science and Physical Education Teaching have also been achieved by former MAs.
