Big City Bright Future - work experience at BlackRock Edinburgh office this summer for school leavers.
Big City Bright Future is an annual
three week work experience programme for school leavers who aspire to work in
the City (Financial Services sector) run by BlackRock in partnership with local
charities working with UK state schools. BlackRock has run this programme in
London for the last two years and this year is extending it to school leavers
living in and around Edinburgh. The structure of the programme is as follows:
Week 1 – Bootcamp/Training at King’s College London, 10th
– 14th July 2017
One week initial training with the 100 students selected to
participate on the programme focusing on soft skills such as presentation
skills, effective team working and commercial awareness. Accommodation and
meals will be provided.
Week 2 & 3 – Work Experience, BlackRock Edinburgh, 17th
– 28th July 2017
Students are allocated a firm for two weeks work experience
in the BlackRock Edinburgh office. The aim is for the selected interns to
develop core skills, get a better understanding of day-to-day life in the
organisation, work with a team on an assigned project and interact with senior
management. All students receive £1,200 salary.
To qualify you must meet the following criteria:
1. Be the first in your family to
apply to go to university.
2. Based in the Edinburgh postcode
area (EH).
3. Applying to University / Further
Education and be due to start a degree course, or be on a pathway to a degree
course / degree level qualification (e.g., college or a Modern
Apprenticeship), in September 2017.
